Questions, answered honestly
Everything you might want to know before reaching out. If your question isn't here, just ask during your free consultation.
What services do you offer?
I offer somatic (meaning body and mindfulness focused) trauma therapy to individuals and couples, along with group therapy. My focus is helping you be more present in your life and relationships.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Book a free 15 minute consultation or reach out through the contact form. I'll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
What does therapy cost?
Rather than a one size fits all number, we talk about fees together during your free consultation. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who need a reduced fee, because I do not believe cost should be the thing standing between you and support. Superbills are available for out of network reimbursement.
Do you take insurance?
I am a private pay practice, which protects your privacy: no required diagnosis on your record and no insurance company involved in your care. If you have a PPO plan with out of network benefits, I provide superbills for possible reimbursement, and you can check your benefits through Mentaya in about 30 seconds. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and sliding scale spots are available. Just ask during your free consultation.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt listing your services, costs, and treatment codes. If you pay for sessions directly and your insurance plan includes out of network benefits, you can submit the superbill to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement.
Where do you see clients?
I see clients in person at my office at 210 S. Orange Grove Blvd in Pasadena, and virtually via secure video anywhere in California.
What do sessions look like?
The first three sessions are really just us getting to know each other. I'll ask questions about your history and background, and together we'll make a plan for what you'd like to focus on.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy works with the body as well as the mind. Because trauma is stored in the nervous system, we pay attention to sensations, breath, and the felt sense of safety, not just thoughts and stories. You can read more on the somatic therapy page.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential within the limits of California law, which I'll review with you clearly before we begin. Therapy only works when you can be fully honest, and I protect that.
Do you work with people who aren't religious anymore? Will you push faith on me?
Never. My role is not to give you a belief system or take one away. Whether you land in a new faith, no faith, or somewhere uncertain, this is your journey and my job is to support your autonomy in it.
