Privacy Policy and HIPAA Notice

Your privacy matters here, on this website and in the therapy room. This page explains how your information is handled in both places.

Website Privacy Policy

This policy describes how information is collected and used when you visit meredithmurdock.com, operated by Meredith Murdock, M.A., LMFT ("I", "me").

Information collected through this website

  • Consultation scheduling. When you book a free consultation, you provide your name, email address, and phone number through an embedded scheduling tool provided by Calendly. This information is used only to schedule and hold your consultation. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing lists. Calendly processes scheduling details under its own privacy policy.
  • Basic technical data. Like most websites, the hosting provider may log standard technical information such as browser type and pages visited in order to operate and secure the site. This site does not use advertising trackers or sell visitor data.
  • Third party services. Scheduling is provided by Calendly, the site is hosted by Netlify, and benefit eligibility checks are provided by Mentaya on their own site. Each operates under its own privacy policy. Links to external sites are provided for convenience and their practices are their own.
Please do not include detailed health information when booking. The scheduling tool is for setting up a time only and is not a system designed for medical records. Save the personal details for our confidential consultation call. If you are experiencing an emergency, call or text 988 or call 911. Do not use this website for emergencies.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because this site does not use advertising trackers or cross site tracking, all visitors are treated the same way regardless of Do Not Track settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means the updated policy applies.

Your choices

You may request that I delete the information you submitted when scheduling at any time by asking me directly. California residents have additional rights under California privacy law, including the right to know what personal information has been collected and to request its deletion.

HIPAA and Your Health Information

Once you become a client, your relationship with me is protected by federal and California law. As a licensed healthcare provider, I follow the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and California confidentiality law in handling your protected health information.

  • Clinical records are confidential. Your therapy records, session content, and even the fact that you are my client are protected health information. They are stored in a secure, HIPAA compliant electronic health record system, not on this website.
  • Secure telehealth. Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA compliant, encrypted video platform, not consumer video apps.
  • Notice of Privacy Practices. Before we begin working together, you will receive my full Notice of Privacy Practices describing exactly how your health information may be used and disclosed, and your rights regarding your records.
  • Limits of confidentiality. California law requires disclosure in a few specific situations, such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult. I review these limits with every client clearly at the start of therapy.
  • Your rights. You have the right to access your records, request corrections, request restrictions on certain disclosures, and receive an accounting of disclosures, as described in the Notice of Privacy Practices.
